Jennifer Small is a candidate for Director in NACDL's 2022 election, nominated by the Nominating Committee.

A national presence that is strong, progressive, and comprehensive is necessary in the practice of criminal defense. This is why I want to serve on the Board of Directors of NACDL. Coordinated advocacy, education, and connections are essential to upholding the mission statement of NACDL and I believe I can be of great use in the execution of existing strategies and the development of new strategies in the pursuit of  justice. I have experience working alongside others in legal related organizations serving in positions ranging from President, President-Elect, Secretary, Board Member at Large, to General Member. I work well together with others and can also produce in an individual capacity. I believe NACDL is the golden standard for leadership in criminal defense. From my time as a DPD, I know how important it is to be able to wage strategic attacks. I also know what it is like to not have the resources or support to do so. I want to be a part of NACDL's approach to providing resources, increasing outreach and membership, and to do so from a leadership perspective. I have attended several NACDL conferences over the last year, am currently serving on the Diversity Committee, and am confident I can be of great use to this organization.
