Chris Wellborn is a candidate for First Vice President in NACDL's 2022 election, nominated by the Nominating Committee.
I am a Life Member of NACDL. I joined in 1994 and have been active in our organization since. I have served as a member of the Corrections, Membership, Strategic Planning, Indigent Defense (now Public Defense), Elections and Internal Complaint Committees. I have chaired the Bylaws, Budget, and Native American Committees. I have also served on the Restoration of Rights Task Force and the Sousouveillance Committee. I was first selected as a Board Representative to the Executive Committee in 2010. Since then I have continued to serve as the Parliamentarian, Treasurer and Second Vice President. Additionally I have worked on numerous projects including the Clemency Project, Strategic Litigation panel, Police Accountability Panel and assisted in my home state with other projects such as the Trial Penalty project. I have worked within my state and in other states to recruit members and in numerous retention efforts as well. I have also volunteered time with the Wisconsin Innocence Project to seek post conviction DNA testing and for compassionate release of inmates in South Carolina.
